The past two weeks have been whirlwind weeks with short schooldays & long nights. Next week, our school week will return to normal…just to do it for 10 days and then take off for two weeks!!
We always hit a good groove come November but then the holidays hit. It’s a struggle every year!
This week had Elizabeth experimenting with gummy bears. In her Chemistry in the Kitchen class, they observed osmosis. I had her do this one entirely on her own, a first, and I was quite impressed with how methodical she was while completing it.
This is the first month we’ve incorporated a formal ‘morning basket‘ into our day. Many of the items are ones we would have done anyway but formalizing it and structuring it has given us a time to purposefully come together as a family. Our basket has a strong Advent bent to it and that focus has made the time even better.
Matthew waiting patiently for his turn at piano lessons. He sat like this the entire 30 minutes.
Last week we did the prep work for the Great Thanksgiving Listen and, over the weekend, the kids conducted interviews with two grandparents. It went well and the kids did a great job with the interview techniques we practiced. My mom is visiting this weekend, so we’ll finish up the interviews then. Next step: teach the kids to edit their interview videos!
