Well, this is my first Weekly Wrap-Up. And I’m oddly nervous. What if I’m too weird? What if I’m too unsocialized? What if I say the wrong thing? It’s like the first day of middle school all over again.
So, ahem. <plays with her hair nervously, deep breath>
My mom visited over the weekend, so the kids rotated through her on Monday morning so she could help with their work. It’s amazing the motivation they have to work quickly if the reward is getting to take work downstairs to a grandparent!
And having her here gave me blessed time alone to detail plan the rest of 2017. Truly, how that is possible, I haven’t any idea. 2018?? Anyway, I didn’t finish planning everything I wanted to plan but I’m better off than before. And that’s what counts, right?
So, hmmm, what else.
Oh, speaking of that picture! History Pockets. I purchased that book the first time we did ancient history. In 2012. I copied two pockets worth (I didn’t have more coins at the library that day, so that is all I could do). We did one. I’m terrible at these kinds of supplements. So terrible. I’m going to try again this cycle. We’ll see if I have better luck. (I also recently discovered that I purchased the electronic version of the Civil War pockets two years ago. I didn’t even know I had that. So 1 pocket is better than that!)
You know how some people say that the third kid is the wild card? This one is. In nearly every way, he’s been different than the other two, both in good ways and in not-so-good ways. The others have their own challenges with homeschooling…but this one. Oh, this one. If I ever hastily decide to pack my kids up and send them to public school at 9:53am one day, it’ll be because of this one! But this week? Its been an easy one. He has fallen in love with copywork (I know, what…?!!). He hurries through all his work so he can get to his copywork. He asked if he could have it every day if he did his other work without resistance. Umm, yes?!! Who knows how long this will be a motivator but, for now, I’ll take it!!
As for me, I’ve been battling sickness, staying up much too late (courtesy of my new Genuis Blogger’s Toolkit and The West Wing) and counting the days until this solo-parenting gig is over. I haven’t ran all week. Since completing the Couch25k program, I’ve had a little less motivation. I need something hanging over my head! This weekend I’m going to start a 10k training app to keep me motivated.
And, I suppose, that’s a wrap! Be sure to head over to Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers to see how others’ weeks went.
