But eating an orange? Heebie-jeebies. Something about the texture of the orange + the white pith….! Blend it up, though, and, oh…!! As a morning wake-me-up or an afternoon perk-me-up, this “-sicle” smoothie is a favorite in our home.
When I want a creamier texture, I leave out part of the milk and add vanilla yogurt. If you like you don’t want to freeze your orange pieces, add a cup of ice & cut back on the milk.
Makes 32 ounces
8-10 mandarin oranges (less of the white pith than in regular oranges), peeled, segmented & frozen
1-2 scoops vanilla protein powder
1 1/2 cups milk
1/4-1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Combine ingredients in blender or using a stick blender; serve.
