*This is the first in a four-part series–Spring Prep for the Next Schoolyear
Spring fever has set in! A mild weather combined with temps in the 60s & 70s has put me fully in the mood for SPRING!
If that wasn’t enough, every February puts the wheels in motion and I start thinking about the next school year. The winter hump is over, spring break is still a couple months off, so I fill this time with looking ahead. After spring break, we only have another month or so of school and then SUMMER, so the time will go quickly.
As you see talk about shopping for next year, it can be TOO easy to get caught up in the frenzy.
Before you even begin shopping, take a bit of time to evaluate your current year, your kids and the coming year.
I’ve created a handout that lists the 13 questions I ask myself, every year. It may seem redundant to ask yourself these questions every year. I get it! I also know that things do change, even when I don’t stop to see it. Forest from the trees and all that jazz. When I make the mistake of not thinking through these questions, it’s easy for me to get caught up in the hype, the big “new thing”, the “but everyone is using it!” Not only does that cost me in time and frustration but it can certainly be difficult on the homeschool budget, as well!
So, take my hard-earned advice and think it through. Even if you don’t write out answers to each question, read through them and consider them before you start shopping. (Let’s be honest–I rarely write out my answers!!)
In next week’s video, I will be discussing questions to ask yourself while you’re shopping.
