Merry Christmas Eve!
Another wonderful day with family. This morning we had a lazy morning before heading to my mom’s. We dropped Elizabeth off and then headed to town to have lunch with Janae. It was wonderful to see her. We talked nonstop & kept our waiter hopping with Diet Coke w/lemon refills. After a quick trip to the mall, we returned to Mom’s to spend time with Angie, Andy & SG which included opening our stockings. Wonderful as always. Then out to Teresa & Rex’s house for Christmas with Grandpa.
Well, that’s all folks!
I posted Tuesday night but Wordpress must have eaten it!
ALL of our household goods are now in our possession!! The lats shipment came on the 18th. Almost all boxes have now been unpacked. Slowly, our home is coming together. I often have to do a double-check to make sure I’m entering the right apartment when I see all our furniture.
Jim’s last two weeks of school were spent mostly in the field. And very cold! We had a cold front come through while he was in the field and a warm front come through on their last day.
We had a nice weekend. Kim came up Friday and stayed until Sunday. Jim was off Friday evening and then had to go back to school to sleep and came home Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon Jim & I went to a movie! We saw the Pursuit of Happiness, which we both enjoyed. Even moreso, we enjoyed just getting out on a date.
We are now in Indiana, having a wonderful visit. I’m glad to see cold weather–we had record highs in Georgia & Jim was wearing shorts. In December!! That is NOT December, as far as I’m concerned!!!
Our drive here was incredible. I think something came in & possessed my child–she sat for SIX HOURS (slept 1.5 of that) before needing to get out of the car. Wasn’t watching a movie. I wasn’t back there with her. I wasn’t interacting with her anymore than I do when I’m driving that trip alone. She wasn’t reading. She played with very few toys. Mostly she just sat back there talking and, briefly, playing with her babies. I’m lucky if I can drive two hours w/o needing to stop. I have NO idea what got into her but it did make the drive go by SO quickly!! We stopped for lunch and then we were in IN by mid-afternoon (we expected to arrive closer to bedtime!).
Thursday evening we went out to my mom’s for a little while. Yesterday morning we left E with Jim’s parents so we could finish up Christmas shopping & go to lunch. Its a fun treat to eat w/o having to tend to a little one. Then we went up to Dad’s last night. Angie & SG came down, also. The girls had a grand time playing together & with Dad. They ran many, many laps around the house looking for the cat (no luck!). I think Dad was going to beat the girls to bed last night–he looked exhausted!!
Bed, glorious, bed!
Well, *almost* everything came! What didn’t? The shipment we sent first…the “important” stuff we wanted in Germany upon our arrival. HA! “Important” has a whole new definition to us anymore. Mom & Angie were such a big help yesterday! My bedroom is mostly finished, my kitchen is mostly finished, two BIG loads of boxes & paper have been taken to the dumpster, E’s room is mostly finished and the 1/2 bath downstairs is full of things to donate. (Don’t ask about our living room & dining room!!!) Lying in bed last night, I was a bit nervous being up that high!! I had forgotten how high a real bed sits–the ceiling fan was too close for my comfort!
We had a *wonderful* visit with Mom, Angie & SG. They arrived late Friday night. Saturday morning we spent time playing with the girls before heading out to do some shopping at a nearby shopping center. The girls had a fun time holding hands walking around. Saturday afternoon we went onto base to meet Jim for a few hours. We met at a great park and the girls played for quite awhile. After dinner, Jim had to get back to school & we headed home. Sunday morning Mom & Ang watched the girls and I slept in…that was WONDERFUL! They took the girls out on a long walk, searched for pine cones (I want them to decorate) and then down to the park. Sunday evening we went to the Riverwalk to see the Christmas lights. Then Monday was moving day! We were sad to see them go Monday night after such a nice visit.
Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday from the army!
Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday from the army!
Friday evening I got home at 6:30. Along with several birthday wish calls, I also had a call from transportation saying our stuff has arrived!! I got so excited…and then looked at the clock–ack, too late to call back and arrange for shipment. A couple hours later, Jim called to say that transportation had called the company and he was able to call back & make arrangements. Its coming today!!!
We don’t know if it will be both of our shipments or only one. Either way, I am THRILLED!
December, finally!
Another week closer to graduation! This past week has been one of lots of classroom time–40 hours over the history of the Army by a very knowledgeable but boring instructor. The week culminated in three tests today–one on the history of the US Army (how can you possibly summarize that into one test??!), one on personnel management and one on supplies (don’t ask, I don’t know what that really means!). They leave Sunday for 10 days in the field and then just four days until he’s off for two weeks!
