On Friday, Ben saw the Feeding Team at the hospital about spitting out all of his food. That morning he decided to eat almost an entire cheese stick and then, for them, almost an entire pudding cup (chocolate!). They couldn’t find anything that directly indicated why he spits out his food. They suspect it may be muscle-related, especially after we talked about all the problems I had with getting him to have a good nursing latch. They directed me to feed pudding every day as a positive reinforcement as he works those muscles. And they want to see us back in a month. Since Friday, he has really taken off with his eating. Going to see them may have been what he needed to see just how far he could push the issue.
Since Friday he’s eaten and swallowed rice, chicken, yogurt, cheese, pretzels, bread, peanut butter, pudding, pasta, ground beef and whatever else he can coax Elizabeth into giving him. She thinks its great fun that he’s eating and takes delight in feeding him.
Elizabeth is very eager for Pa & Grandma’s visit. She has big plans for the visit, mostly revolving around trips to the park by our house.
