Productive but Sick

I had an incredibly productive morning. Before 9 am I had:

dressed myself
fed E
dressed E
folded laundry
put away said clothes
moved clothes from the washer to the dryer and started a new load
cleaned the downstairs bathroom
swept the laundry room floor
mopped the kitchen floor
ran the dishwasher
swept the front porch
answered client e-mails
vacuumed the area rug in E’s room
sent pictures to Wal-mart for developing so I could put them in Jim’s next package
and worked more on my class notes.

And the productivity would have continued had I not been interrupted with the sudden desire to rid my body of everything I’ve eaten in the last 24 hours. I had felt nauseous when I fell asleep last night and this morning. I was afraid it was the stomach bug that has been going around. And then my fear was confirmed. UGH. So now I have no idea if I’ll get to teach tomorrow or not. I talked to my volunteer supervisor, who is part of the conference tomrorrow, and she said I can wait to make that decision tomorrow morning since I don’t teach until the last class session. If I can’t, she’ll come get my materials so the students can at least get the resources.

E is sound asleep in her crib, so I think I’m going to try for a nap. She has put herself to sleep for a nap TWICE today! She’s getting pretty good at that for bedtime. I’m glad to see it spreading to naps!!

Never Ending Sickness (Whine)

Three weeks I've been battling this d@mn cold. I am SO tired of it. E was on the mend from her cold last week but I think she's going back downhill again. I really think I could fight off the rest of this cold if I could just get a night or two of sleep. Sleep issues are getting worse–we're now back to getting up 4-6 times between 8 pm-6 am. And the bottle strike continues. I have a gift certificate for a 4-hour spa day of a massage, facial, pedicure, manicure & haircut that I can't use because my daughter won't take the bottle. And it expires in a few weeks. *sigh* As much as I absolutely ADORE being with her, I can't begin to describe how much I could use that spa day. Last night I was at a meeting for our unit and they had a foot spa experience. Another wife took E so I could relax and enjoy. And relax & enjoy I did!!!

Mostly, though, I just want four straight hours of sleep. Or even three. Is that too much to ask from an almost-five month old??!

Cold & Weekend Update

I think there should be a law against having a cold and being 37 weeks weeks pregnant simultaneously!! Friday my throat felt a little raw but nothing too bad. By Friday night, I was starting to drag. By Saturday night, I was barely moving. Today, I wasn’t. LOL I have it all–sore throat, runny nose, itchy eyes, ear aches. Oh, the fun of it all!!! As if I am not miserable enough already. I called my mommy to whine about it tonight and she said that she got a terrible cold the day before she went into labor with me (and then it was entirely gone when she left the hospital!), so maybe it is a genetics thing and I’ll go tomorrow?? The Star Wars DVDs come out on Tuesday. I keep teasing DH that I’ll probably go into labor Tuesday so he won’t be able to watch them. I find that thought amusing. He does not. LOLBeyond my cold, we’ve had a good weekend. DH had Thursday and Friday off (family time before the next plane of deploying soldiers left) so we spent those days working a lot around here. We got new side tables for the bedroom (we’re working on getting a real, full set of bedroom furniture), so shopping for those and putting them together took several hours. We also did a lot of cleaning & purging in the bedroom. It looks SO much better now!! I can’t wait until we actually finish it. We also spent a few hours deep-cleaning downstairs. Saturday I ran a couple errands in the morning, met with our doula (hence the inspiration for the deep-cleaning downstairs) for the afternoon and then we ran a couple more errands that evening, including purchasing a video camera. I am SO excited to have that now!! Everything went well with our doula–I am very excited to use her. And I think she’ll be great for Jim too. I told Jim last night that I only wanted to rest today. We were on the go from Wednesday until last night and with being sick, I knew I couldn’t take anything today. I still feel awful but more rested, at least.
