New Life, Podcasts
Posted by happygrl6
First off, a BIG congratulations to Lisanne, Jeff & Lucas on the birth of their new family member, Meredith Elise. Less than three hours of labor later, Meredith joined the family! She went to the hospital at 7cm, moved into the delivery room and *bam* there she was, ready to come on out! That’s my idea of a good labor! LOL Coincidentally, both of her due dates were on a Tuesday. She started feeling “off” with both of them on the Saturday prior. And both came on their due date. How’s that for keeping a schedule?! LOL
I’m glad to know that its not that other people think I truly am a podcast-dork but that others live in the unknown world of awesome podcasts. :D Wikipedia defines podcasting as “a multimedia file distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers.” Basically, its a radio show that you download to your computer or mp3 player rather than listening to it live on the radio/through online streaming. You can find them on all kinds of topics–theology, parenting, travel, children, news, politics, Christian discussion, books on “tape”, college lectures, etc. A few of the ones I listen to regularly include a daily “Bible in a year” reading, a “bible in a year” for kids reading, a couple shows from NPR, a podcast by a guy who loves to snack and does shows on snack foods, a childrens book reading (E loves to listen to those), Dave Rasmsey, Money Matters (financial show from a Christian perspective) and sermons from a couple churches. You can download them for free on iTunes and listen to them on your computer (no mp3 player needed). I listen to them on my computer as I clean, play with E, etc.
Now that I’ve explained that, I expect everyone to become a podcast junkie like myself and report back. ![]()
I love Money Matters! We have a really good Christian radio station here in the city and they have it on there. I’ve gotten some good advice listening to it!
ohhhhhhhhh, well, i listen to radio broadcasts on the radio, and i listen to Focus on the Family and Money matters too. So i guess i *do* listen to podcasts! hehe i just don’t download them to something to listen to them, i do them on my puter.
So, on the other hand, i’m not a junkie like you… just an occassional user.
I’ve listened to podcasts on a few occasions, but I’ve yet to download any for my iPod.. maybe I should start
Thanks for the blog mention, Tricia, and for updating the B4L list! I really appreciate it! We are SO in love with our little girl!!!
