Simply Amazing

Posted by happygrl6

Tonight I was privilieged & blessed to see the truest of miracles. A friend of mine gave birth and I was there to witness it. She went in last night for induction (high risk & overdue) and she called me this morning to give me the update. After our PD & staff meeting, I left E with a friend and scurried over to the hospitalr. She was doing awesome and, when I left to go feed E & snuggle with her a bit (she was in on-site daycare for several hours this morning, so we both needed snuggle time), she was at 10 centimenters. She had to have antibiotics due to an infection, so as soon as those ran their course, they were going to start her pushing. She asked me to come back and I couldn’t say no. She pushed on-and-off for about an hour after I got back (a little over two hours total) before the world welcomed a new little girl!!

My dear friend made it all look so effortless!! This afternoon she was quite calm and we carried on a great conversation. And between pushes she was so relaxed!!

While I’m not usually an emotional person, I couldn’t stop crying. She was SO beautiful!! And SO tiny!! And perfect.

Since I wasn’t able to have a vaginal delivery nor was I awake for E’s grand (and overly-dramatic!! LOL) appearance into the world, seeing little Jessica born was even more amazing. It also makes me that much more sad that I wasn’t able to experience birth the way we planned nor will I likely get to on future children (military is steering away from VBAC, esp. those where the C-sections were emergency).

All in all, one of the most amazing days of my life.

Cory–Sounds like an amazing experience Tricia. :) Glad you were able to be a part of it.

Vicki–Aww Tricia, that is awesome! I was there when June was born, and I have to tell you, the feelings you felt seeing her born never go away. It really is the truest of miracles to watch a life come into this world. You will always feel a bond for Jessica now, I am sure.

Lisanne-Wow, that’s really awesome! I hope that mom and baby are doing just fine now. Congratulations to your friend! I’ve never witnessed a birth (and shortly, I will! LOL!). :D

Tricia–As far as I know, they are all doing well! I’m off to visit them in a bit.

I had never witnessed a birth, including E’s, so this was a first. While she was just in labor, I was talking to one of the nursing students. She said she had witnessed her first birth right out of tech school at age 18 and was hooked from the start. I think *I’m* hooked!!!
