On Fridays, we take a break from our regular math curriculums to do “Friday Math.” While it’s something we’ve done for years, I only make it an actual “thing” & scheduled it weekly this year.
- It offers a mental break from more taxing math.
- It gives the kids practice with the math they’ve already learned but using a different method or format.
- It adds variety and, in some cases, some extra fun to math.
- They get a chance to see how the math they’ve learned can be applied to other contexts, real-life applications, etc.
